China cars look to US market CCTV-International

Chinese car and battery-maker BYD was the only Chinese representative at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. BYD hopes to launch its very own line of electric cars in the US market by the end of the year, adding that going green is the only way to make money in a changing climate.
On Thursday morning, a seminar held on the sidelines of the North American International Auto Show attracted 70 representatives from Chinese and American auto manufacturers, dealerships and local governments. China is now the largest auto market in the world, and is now focusing on research and development of clean energy cars.
During the show, Chinese car-maker BYD announced that it will begin selling the newest E6 electronic cars in some parts of America by the end of the year.
Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD Auto, said, “I don’t think our cars will pose a threat to American cars. However, every car manufacturer should develop clean energy vehicles to promote this market. Only by doing this can we all make money.”
As for BYD’s production plans in the US, Wang Chuanfu said this will depend on sales, adding that BYD would like to cooperate with American companies to jointly develop new energy products.
