Hybrid Electric Cars available on the European market

A hybrid electric car (HEC) is a car that uses two or more distinct power sources to move the car. A HEC combines an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors. HEC’s consume less gasoline than conventional (internal combustion) cars because the batteries in the HEC get charged when the car breaks. This electric energy is used to fuel the electric engines.

On the European market there are currently approximately 9 HEC’s on the market:

1. Toyota Prius

2. Honda Civic Hybrid

3. Honda Insight

4. Mercedes S400 Hybrid

5. Lexus RX450h

6. Lexus LS600h

7. Lexus GS450h

8. Citroën C4 Hybrid

9. Peugeot 308 Hybrid
